Built tough to do business better
The XT420 and XT460
The XT420 and XT460 have the same specification, except for a display on the XT460. The display on the Motorola XT460 gives useful information about the operating status of the radio, such as channel number, battery level and signal. Both models are built to rugged specifications and extensively tested to withstand tough working conditions.
These tests include:
- 30 mins of wind and rain on every surface.
- 9 hours of vibration testing.
- 48 hours of salt fog.
- 6 hours of blowing dust on all surfaces.
- 18 shocks with a minimum of 40G per shock.
- Exposure to temperatures from -55° to 70°.
Testing is additional to the standard IP testing which rates the radios at IP55. With such rugged testing, you know these radios will not let you down in everyday operating environments, even if it is raining or it gets dropped.
With licence-free two-way radios, you do not need a licence to operate them. The only cost to get you up and running is to purchase the radios themselves, you may also require accessories should you need them. With loud and clear audio, wind-noise reduction, 8 channels and 219 privacy codes for sending/receiving crisp and clear communications. A common yet useful feature is the VOX or Transmit on Voice, which lets you communicate ‘hands-free’, which is great for multi-tasking in a busy environment.
The Motorola XT420/XT460 come with a swivel holster allowing the user to carry the radio hands-free. The handsets have an antimicrobial coating which prevents mould and germ growth – ideal if you change walkie-talkies at the beginning or end of a shift.
Review Verdict: Motorola XT420/XT460
These models are to replace the XTNi/XTNi-D models which have proved to be very popular. Motorola has designed the XT420/XT460 to be compatible with the accessories from the XTNi range. This means if you are replacing your older models with newer ones, you don’t need to replace your accessories. The XT420/XT460 come either with or without a charger, and the very competitive price tag means this new offering from Motorola will be hard to beat.
